Synopsis:

Movies, mansions, and murder in the Golden Age of Hollywood! Teri Bailey Black’s Chasing Starlight is a historical mystery from the award-winning author of the Thriller Award for Best Young Adult Novel.

1938. The Golden Age of Hollywood. Palm trees and movie stars. Film studios pumping ouy musicals, westerns, and gangster films at a furious pace. Everyone wants to be a star – except society girl and aspiring astronomer Kate Hildebrand, who’d rather study them in the night sky. She’s already famous after a childhood tragedy turned her into a newspaper headline. What she craves is stability.

But when Kate has to move to Hollywood to live with her washed-up silent film star grandfather, she walks into a murder scene and finds herself on the front page again. She suspects on of the young men boarding in her grandfather’s run-down mansion is the killer – maybe even her grandfather. She searches for clues.

Now, Kate must discover the killer while on the set of a musical – and falling in love. Will her stars align so she can catch the murderer and love the dream in Old Hollywood? Or will she find that she’s just chasing starlight?

Review

Rating: 🎬🎬🎬🎬🎬

Chasing Starlight is a fun read and the murder mystery part of the book was really good in the way that the plot twist kept you guessing who was the murderer. The setting of Golden Age of Hollywood was perfect for this book. The way Teri Bailey Black wrote the book you can picture all of the scenes in Old Hollywood time and see the characters come to life. That what I enjoyed reading her books because I can visualize everything by her words.

I loved all of the characters in the books but my favorite would be Kate because you could see she was struggling with her past but she wouldn’t let it stop her from finding out who was the murderer. You could see that Kate was growing throughout the book and trying to overcame her fears at the end.

I was surprised to find out who the murderer was at the end of the book. Definitely didn’t think it was that person who did it but thinking back it did make sense that they were the one.

Definitely would recommend Chasing Starlight if you like historical fiction based in the Old Hollywood time period and like murder mysteries.

Honestly, I can’t wait to see what Teri Bailey Black writes next.
